Feb 22, 2017 | Latest Posts, London, London, Our London, Stories

Fashion draws inspiration from everywhere and anything. It speaks the designer’s personal interpretation and gives them opportunity to celebrate their creativity and present their collections.

This time as part of London Fashion Week, supported and presented by Mercedes-Benz, the International Fashion Showcase took place at the renown Somerset House with designers from more than 15 countries showcasing their latest creations.
Local/Global, this year’s theme focused on exploring the influence of place on fashion design. Fashion is influenced by all our surroundings, nature, climate, culture, society, history. Their influence is showcased through silhouettes, techniques and materials. The showcase was arranged by country and housed many inspiring designs. Here below is a preview of some of the garments and my personal favourite creation of the week.
Favorite design: Egypt – 100% Egyptian Cotton
For more than two centuries, Egypt has created their “White Gold” export to be their synonym and key to the country’s development. Through their designs the Egyptian designers reflected on the cotton’s lifecycle from seed all the way to the hands of the global customers.
Second Favorite: Russia – A Memory of the Future
As a country with rich creative heritage, Russian designers opted for a twist in their interpretation of time-travelling. Their slick, contemporary reinterpretations of traditional crafting techniques is showcased in their garments.
